Ferrari began its programme to redevelop the BB series 1n 1978. At first the brief was to redesign the existing 512BBi but revised safety and emission regulations led to Ferrari developing a complete new model. The all new Ferrari Testarossa premiered at the 1984 Paris Auto show. With blistering performance, Striking looks, superb handling and yet more luxury it’s easy to see how the new Ferrari GT car became the poster car of the 80’s. This model was face lifted in 1992 to become the 512TR. Only the very early Ferrari Testarossa’s carry the ‘Flying Mirror’ and are referred to as the Monospecchio. This unusual characteristic was the result of a misinterpretation of European law by the design team. The design was later revised to a conventional set up. The very first US car to carry double mirrors was chassis No. 67487 and built in 1987.
This example presents beautifully in its original factory ordered colour of Rosso corsa. The body is straight and having spent most of its life in Florida is totally corrosion free. The previous owner of this example would often show the car at concourse events where the car has placed winning silverware.
It must be noted that this examples interior is in superb order. The timeless combination of Rosso corsa on Nero leather make this early Testarossa particularly desirable. It appears the previous keepers always made us of over-mats allowing the carpets to remain free from general wear. The switch-gear and steering wheel show little signs of wear and it is easy to see how this car placed well at concourse level. You will discover the original, complete tool roll in the luggage compartment.
Once again it must be noted that the engine compartment of this car is particularly clean. Having satisfied our extensive 131 point mechanical inspection on arrival you can be assured that faults (if any) have been identified and rectified. The engine and drive train feel strong and perform as expected on test.
Retaining all original and correct components. The centre-lock magnesium wheels are in good order and carry period correct Michelin TRX tyres.
