Successor to the 356, Porsche revealed the 901 to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963. In October of 1964 the 901 became 911 after some trademark objections from Peugeot. Porsche revised its design of the original 911 in 1969 to address some handling issues. This new design with a lengthened wheelbase by 2.2 inches produced a marked improvement. The 911E model was designed to sit between the models of 911T (Touring) and 911S (Super) as a more comfortable, luxurious and drivable model. The 911E designation derives from the German word for injection einspritzung. Our 911E was ordered new by an American customer in July 1969. Mr. Ronald Baymer made the trip to Germany in Jan 1970 to take personal delivery of the car. The car remained in his possession for 40 years where every service item from new has been meticulously documented.
Always an icon and becoming increasingly difficult to find in near perfect unrestored condition this early matching numbers 911 represents a rare opportunity to acquire what we believe to be one of the very best remaining examples in private ownership.
Original and unrestored, the paint colour 2323 Tangerine still shows with a beautiful deep luster. All chrome trims are in perfect condition. The car has an extremely warm and honest feeling. Factory ordered with all round tinted glass and still retains its super rare original H1 German headlamps. Note the through grille optional Hella spot lights, a receipt for these genuine Porsche parts can be found in the detailed history file.
This car retains its original Leather with hounds-tooth centre factory upgraded seats in very good condition. The original carpets, door cards, steering wheel and dashboard furniture remain in perfect condition. In the luggage compartment you will find the original carpets, tool roll and correct spare wheel.
Our extensive 131 point mechanical inspection revealed this example to be as good mechanically as it is aesthetically. On test this car performs without fault. The engine feels strong and the 5 speed dogleg gearbox still engages all gears with precision and ease.
The Genuine 15 inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels show in fabulous condition and carry the correct Pirelli Cinturato tyres. The 911E benefits from the ventilated disc arrangement taken from the 911S model.
A comprehensive history file for this vehicle includes the original owner’s correspondence to the Porsche factory all the way to present day service. All import and export documents are present along with the book packs, sales literature, service books, warranty cards and spare keys.
