The 928 example shown here is something we are enormously proud to have on sale at Renaissance Classic Sports Cars.

Launched in 1978, the Porsche 928 was originally intended to be as a replacement for the 911. The idea was to design a powerful, front engine rear-wheel-drive, sports car with enough comfort and refinement that it could be used like a luxury saloon. Porsche believed this design brief would appeal to a broader audience…. and they were right! The car became an immediate hit in the UK, with demand out-doing supply and it winning the 1978 European Car of the year award. As a result of all this, the 928 model range had a successful production run that spanned nearly 18years.

This car is actually one of the later evolution, and extremely rare, “GT” models. The GT model only came in manual gearbox form and was better equipped than the ClubSport, bare bones sibling, while still maintaining the lower vehicle weight to provide a more performance orientated driving experience. With it being a later generation car it also benefited from a 0-100% variable ratio limited-slip called PSD (Porsche Sperr Differential), this system is much like the one engineered for the flagship Porsche 959 and provides the vehicle with even more traction under hard acceleration. Other improvements and updates to the engine cooling, sensor locations, power steering and subtle interior changes were made at this time.

Something that is very important to mention is that only 2078 of the 928 GT were made globally before production ceased in late 1991, of which only 516 of this generation were made for the European market. This means that this car, with a first registration date of 21/02/1992, is not only one of the last production models ever made but it is also one of a very limited number of right-hand-drive examples in existence! All of which make for an exceedingly collectable and sought after vehicle for any future investor/collector or enthusiast.
Like all of our cars here at Renaissance Classic Sports Cars; the vehicle comes with a very comprehensive provenance and history portfolio, including the original handbook, “Porsche Possessions” accessories booklet, fully stamped service book and tool kit. The car will also come with a fresh MOT and a stack of the previous owners invoices, receipts and previous MOT certificates to back up how fastidiously the vehicle has been maintained. We have also carried out our own in depth checks and preparation work with the vehicle to bring it up to an exceptional standard we are proud of.

The car is presented in a stunning Metallic Colbalt Blue with contrasting light grey leather interior with Navy Blue seat piping and carpets. The overall condition of the vehicle is absolutely stunning; no visible dents or scratches, with the interior in immaculate ‘as new’ condition following a complete professional reconalising of the interior leather that we have recently carried out.

The power plant of the vehicle is a bulletproof 5.0 litre, V8 with 4 valves per cylinder, with electronic fuel injection. This engine not only sounds awesome – but also produces nearly 330bhp and a whopping 317lbft of torque! Which is still immensely impressive even by today’s standards of performance car. It gets this power down through a 5-speed manual gearbox and a PSD variable LSD unit. The chassis is a monocoque design featuring double wishbone coilspring front suspension, independent semi trailing arm rear suspension and a manual rack and pinion steering assembly.
